Summary of Position: Create community and inclusion among students but especially with underserved students. Empower students to be engaged and active citizens. Develop and deliver programming that builds an understanding of diversity and social justice. Create student advocacy opportunities at Western and in the community. Develop and direct the work of a student employee team to assist with the essential functions of The SPACE and campus food pantries. Manage the campus food pantries and associated programs and services to reduce the impacts of poverty on our students.

2. Perform office function’s which may include, but are not limited to: respond to internal/external customers and staff; create and modify documents, records, and reports using College standard software; maintain hard copy and/or electronic filing system; monitor inventory and budget information; schedule, coordinate, and prepare materials for meetings and/or appointments.
3. Complete all required College training and responsible for maintaining the skills necessary to complete the essential functions of the position as defined by the department.

5. Student Development & Employment – Supporting Action/Task May Include:
Develop a student employee team to provide essential service for the critical functions of The SPACE, food pantries, and assisting Career Services
Promote, recruit, train, supervise, schedule, evaluate, and mentor student employees to learn and grow as individuals
Develop students through feedback, coaching, encouragement, and stretch assignments
Provide front-office customer service
Build relationships with students to deepen engagement and foster their learning and growing
Coach individual students, provide resources and referrals, and mentor them
6. Program Implementation – Supporting Action/Task May Include:
Continuously promote programming, The SPACE, and manage social media
Provide social programming and develop student community in an coordinated and spontaneous way
Collaborate with students and student clubs/organizations interested in multiculturalism, diversity, inclusion, and advocacy
Assist in developing a calendar of events, planning timelines, budgeting for student programming each term
Assist with data collection and program evaluation
Research current trends and best practices related to underserved student populations, diversity, and social justice education
Answer requests for information and attend campus and community meetings and events as assigned
7. Campus Food Pantry Operations – Supporting Actions May Include:
Manage inventory, client process, and reporting
Train and direct work of volunteers and student interns
Continuously promote the campus food pantries and its services
Assist in management of funding and donations
Through collaboration and committee participation, establish special programs and services to support students’ most basic needs related to food and hygiene
Minimum Required Qualifications
Associate Degree in related field OR
Education in related field combined with related occupational experience totaling 2 years OR
Related occupational experience totaling 2 years
Minimum Preferred Qualifications:
Education in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Social Justice or degree in Education preferred
Knowledge of student development preferred, and employee development preferred
Knowledge of social justice education preferred and Capability to build and maintain student relationships preferred

Starting hourly salary range based on education and experience: $22.22 – $27.78
