ODNR owns and manages state parks, state forests, state nature preserves and wildlife areas. We license all hunting, fishing and watercraft; oversee and permit all mineral extraction, monitor dam safety, manage water resources and serve as the second largest Law Enforcement presence in the State of Ohio.
We are accepting applications for a Shooting Range Attendant within the Division of Wildlife, headquartered at the Delaware Shooting Range & Training Center, assigned to Delaware County. What you will do…
Ensures safety of visitors, resources and property at the shooting ranges
Promotes the use of ODNR Shooting Range facilities for handgun, shotgun & archery activities (e.g., registers & observes shooters, monitors shooting in progress, assists handicapped shooters, & enforces range safety rules)
Performs general maintenance &/or repairs on state-owned property (e.g., shooting & archery ranges, wildlife area & public use facilities)
Performs maintenance on grounds, parking lot, general equipment & vehicle inspection & maintenance & maintains applicable records
Assist & contact Wildlife Officers to provide information necessary for issuing citations &/or making arrest for violations or non-compliance of shooting range rules (e.g., wildlife area regulations)
Distributes information & answers questions (e.g., range, hunting information & wildlife areas)

National Rifle Association rifle & pistol certification; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of grass mowers & hedge trimmers. -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
Knowledge of: safety practices (firearm, archery safety); public relations; agency policies & procedures (ODNR, Division of Wildlife shooting range [rifles, pistol & archery] policies & procedures)*; Government Structure & Process (federal, state, local)*. Skilled in: word processing (Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, Access)*, equipment operations (firearms [rifles, pistols & archery] first aid, Personal Protective Equipment [PPE], vehicles, computer*). Ability to: recognize unusual or threatening conditions & take appropriate action; add, subtract, multiply & divide whole numbers; maintains accurate records; handle sensitive inquiries from the general public (with rifle & pistol shooters on shooting range); work alone on most tasks; resolves complaints from angry citizens.
Competencies: Performing for or Working Directly with the Public; Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, and Subordinates; Resolving Conflicts and Negotiating with Others.
