Under the direction of the Director of Registration, Director of Telecommunications, Registration Supervisor, and Telecommunications Supervisor the Registration Clerk/PBX Operator is responsible for E/R and O/P registrations as well as all internal and external communications that come into the hospital switchboard. He/she is responsible for interviewing patients for the purpose of gathering demographic and billing information along with obtaining treatment consents. In addition, he/she is responsible for all hospital paging, monitors fire and code alarms, and handles all phone calls that come into the PBX/Amcom system. All duties are to be performed in the best interest of Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, its physicians, and its patients and may be subject to change.
Scope of Responsibilities and Accountability:
Register incoming patients who require O/P or E/R services.
Registers o/p in order of arrival and E/R patient in order of medical necessity as directed.
Gather all patient information including demographics, insurance, and consent for treatment.
Refer self pay accounts to a financial counselor.
Perform all registrations at bedside.
Run MITS on all self pay and MCD patients to check for eligibility.
Use Recondo for all patients and collect POS as appropriate.
Knowledge of insurances.
Inform every patient of privacy act.
Maintain confidential information.
Display a caring attitude and place customer first.
Maintaining confidential information according to HIPAA guidelines.
Verify MITS for all patients on the MCD / SP report
Know downtime procedures.
