General Job Description:
The Operating Room Assistant Assists Operating Room staff and Anesthesia staff with various tasks related to surgical procedures and patient care in a safe and effective manner.
Detailed Job Description:
Hours – M-F 7:30am-4:00pm
Prints preference cards and assembles case carts with supplies and instruments for surgical procedures.
Returns supplies and instruments not used to proper location.
Assists operating room staff with getting equipment prepared for surgical procedures.
Assemble equipment necessary for cases and has basic knowledge and understanding of use (i.e. fracture table, cysto table, shoulder positioner, hana table)
Assists operating room staff with stocking the operating rooms.
Stocks fluids and blankets in warmer.
Works closely with Materials Management on making sure OR and anesthesia inventory is stocked appropriately.
Assists operating room staff with checking outdates in the department.
Brings specimens to lab.
Assures anesthesia machines and carts are stocked.
Assists with turnovers for OR staff and anesthesia.
Assist operating room staff with positioning of patients and transfer of patients.
Assists with notifying facilities and biomed about repairs
Stocks oxygen and carbon dioxide tanks.
Stocks hat covers and shoe covers.
Stocks scrub sinks with appropriate supplies.
Assists with docking of neptunes and stocking of supplies for neptunes.
Performs other tasks deemed necessary by the Operating Room staff.
Work Experience and Education Requirements
Work Experience Requirements:
Prior experience working as a Operating Room Assistant desired.
