Our shelvers put books, media and other library resources on the shelves, as well as maintain and ensure accurate location filing.
These part-time, non-exempt positions have a varied schedule which includes days, evenings and weekends. Schedule will consist of approximately 12 to 16 hours per week. The current vacancies are at the Rum River Branch in Anoka and the Crooked Lake Library in Coon Rapids. Schedules may include days, evenings and weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities
These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Library Shelver.
Shelve books and other materials in the library.
Deliver consistent quality customer experience.
Assist in maintaining an organized library environment.
Guide patrons toward the appropriate library staff.
Aid in sustaining tidy and welcoming library environments.
Stand, bend, stoop, reach and carry for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications (Required)
Must be at least 16 years of age by the closing date of the posting.
Able to stand, bend, stoop, reach and carry for extended periods of time and occasionally lift up to 30 pounds, with or without accommodation.
Must successfully pass a criminal history background check.
Previous paid or volunteer library experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Needed
Standard library procedures.
Dewey Decimal, alphabet and number classification/filing systems.
Basic computer use.
Work and communicate effectively with the public and staff members.
Follow directions and complete tasks of a repetitive nature with minimal supervision while maintaining attention to detail.
Work is primarily performed in a public library setting.
Anoka County Salary Schedule, Grade A005. Non-exempt.
Normal hiring rate: $13.79 to $14.20 per hour.
2021 full salary range: $13.79 to $21.40 per hour.
Upon successful completion of an initial hire probationary period, employees will be reviewed for a potential pay increase, and reviewed at least annually thereafter.
Part-time; 12 to 16 hours per pay week.
Work schedule may include days, evening and weekends.
Schedule and work location may vary based on business needs and at supervisor discretion.
The examination/selection process for this classification will consist of a review of your training and experience from the application materials submitted. The most qualified candidates will be invited for an oral exam and/or interview tentatively scheduled for December 14.
