The Boyden Library is seeking a self-motivated, service oriented individual to join our staff as a Library Assistant in the Youth Services Department. The Library Assistant is responsible for direct customer service at the Youth Service Circulation Desk. The chosen candidate will execute various duties in the technical services and programming areas of the Youth Services Department.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Circulation tasks in the Youth Service Department, basic Reference & Readers Advisory for patrons, receive materials & verify packages, process Youth Service materials (books, kits, puppets, audio/visual), mend & repair Youth Service materials, perform story-time and other programs, other relates duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience: High School diploma, knowledge of Youth Services materials desirable, public or school library experience preferred, experience with automated library systems and personal computers desired. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
Hours/Benefits: This is a full-time position (35 hrs. per week) offering pro-rated benefits. The weekly hours include two evenings, alternate Saturdays and one Sunday per month between October-April.
