Anticipated Start Date:
The Library Assistant performs support services in one or more library functions in the library or learning resource center of a Community College which provides library services to students, faculty, staff, and citizens. These functions may include circulation; periodicals processing; acquisitions processing; interlibrary loans; reserves; basic reference and readers’ advisory; and audio-visual equipment lending. Incumbents are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
Associate degree with up to two (2) years of related experience.
Successful Candidate must have or must possess:
Experience with Librarianship functional areas.
Experience with library patrons.

Associate degree in Library Technical Science.
Example of Job Duties:
Under the direction of a Librarian, Library Associate or the Director of Library Services or a or other administrators performs support services in one or more library functions in the library or learning resource center of a Community College which provides library services to students, faculty, staff, and citizens. These functions may include circulation; periodicals processing; acquisitions processing; interlibrary loans; reserves; basic reference and readers’ advisory; and audio-visual equipment lending through effective performance in these essential functional areas:
Charging and discharging library materials, including examining those materials for damage and for completeness of sets of materials; this task includes the operation of the library’s automated circulation system.
Processing patron interlibrary loan requests, which involves online searches of national databases and selecting lender library sources according to costs and delivery time; this task may involve making telephone contact with other libraries to arrange for borrowing the materials.
Performing basic assistance in the use of the library’s online catalog and library equipment such as photocopiers, and microform reader/printers.
Processing requests for equipment and scheduling its use by patrons.
Performing general clerical tasks such as word processing to produce correspondence and forms, making photocopies, and transmitting facsimiles.
