We are hiring a Family Court Clerk (Judicial Services Specialist 2) to join the Josephine County Circuit Court .
As a Family Court Clerk …
Much of your day is spent processing documents on domestic relations, restraining orders, filiation, and juvenile matters. This includes opening new cases, examining paperwork for accuracy, inputting and scanning case data in the court’s internal software system, calendaring, and routing documents to judges.
You will also assist litigants and attorneys in using the court system and inform them of court procedures and policies; and, answer questions related to court procedure and the status of domestic relations, adoption, filiation, and juvenile cases.
Customer service will be part of your duties. You will assist the public at the counter and via phone by answering questions and supplying forms for cases, processing charges via card, check or cash payments in person, by telephone, or by posting credit to appropriate accounts. You will maintain the cash drawer following court practices.
You will use established policies and procedures to perform your work, while also ensuring statutory requirements are met. Most importantly, you will be part of our justice system that ensures peoples’ cases are heard impartially and in a timely manner.
Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs. Previous experience in a court or legal environment is not required. We welcome all candidates who are inspired by our work and mission .

Minimum Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have at least one (1) year of responsible, clerical experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.
AND
Possession of a high school diploma or GED, or equivalent life or work experience.
OR
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to two (2) years that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a full-time position and the work schedule currently is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per work week.
Occasional after-hours or overtime work may be required.
Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds.
Frequent phone and in-person contact with people who may be facing challenging life circumstances, highly stressful situations, or trauma.
Regular use of the following equipment: telephone, personal computer with multiple monitors, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner.
Daily data entry with extended periods of sitting or standing.
