The Job Opportunity and Duties…
Acts for the Warden for assigned operations
Works in conjunction with and at the direction of the Chief Inspector's Office
Serves as the liaison between the Warden and the Ohio Highway Patrol, prosecutors office and other law enforcement agencies in all investigative matters of inmates and/or staff
Conducts investigations dealing with drugs, contraband, employee/inmate relationships and violations of laws, rules and/or policies by visitors and/or staff
Monitors the inmate phone system
Serves as the administrative liaison between the warden, resident population and staff in matters of litigation against the institution and staff
Attends training as directed and effectively utilizes technology
Researches and responds to inquiries and complaints from the general public and outside agencies
Prepares reports, position papers, legal documents and/or correspondence
Represents the Warden for orientation of new staff and inmates
Trains staff on investigative techniques
Serves on institutional committees and acts as the duty officer as assigned
Completion of undergraduate major core program in criminal justice or related field.
Knowledge of criminal justice; state adult rehabilitation and correction system; English grammar and composition or business communication; supervisory principles/techniques*; budgeting*. Skill in operation of computer terminal*. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; prepare findings and recommendations regarding inmate/institution matters; handle sensitive inquiries from and contacts with officials, general public and inmates.

The final applicant selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis prior to an appointment to test for illegal drug use. The State will decline to extend a final offer of employment to any applicant with a verified positive test result. Also, an applicant with a positive test result will not be considered for any position with the State of Ohio for a period of one year. "Not applicable to current state employees".
This position may be subject to Federal Alcohol. Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) regulations that prohibit someone to carry, transport, or otherwise possess firearm(s) and/or ammunition from consuming marijuana, including medical marijuana.
