PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: To assist the Director of Special Education in; The development, supervision, coordination and evaluation of all Special Education programs; Interpreting the philosophy and practices of the Special Education Department to administrators, staff, and the community-at-large; Establishing procedures for screening, placement, evaluation, assignment, and reappraisal of students vis–vis the special education program; Promoting and implementing any new regulations pertaining to Special Education; Determining the need for new programs and services; Evaluating existing programs as to their effectiveness to recommend changes wherever deemed necessary; Supervising and evaluating personnel within Special Education Departments (as per Collective Bargaining Agreements for both Administrators and Teachers); Aiding the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel in the selection of new personnel and their assignments; Preparing Special Education budget; Preparing all federal, state and local reports; Writing proposals for reimbursements; Initiating and developing in service training programs for all staff members; Holding staff meetings on a regular basis; Cooperating fully with public and private agencies, support services, physicians, parents, etc. in securing and providing services; Performing such other tasks as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
